    Dear Subscribers,

    Since 1993, when the LINGUIST assistantships were inaugurated, LINGUIST subscribers have financed the educations of 45 outstanding graduate students, including this year's crew. Those of you who have contributed to LINGUIST over the past 10 years can feel proud that you have helped these students pursue their educational and career goals. Please help us support the outstanding students who are now providing you with the services that you have come to expect from LINGUIST. If you have not yet donated to the Linguist Fund Drive, please do so now--all of your donations go directly to student support.

    Over the past few days your donations have funded another one of our crew members--Himanshu Dalal. As each on of our crew members is funded, we will post their personal letter so that you can see where your donations go! Below is Himanshu's letter.

    Dear subscribers,

    It is fund drive season again--the time of year when the LINGUIST List(LL) crew feels most empowered and enthusiastic. You know why? Because the fund drive inspires them with hope that subscribers will continue to support the LINGUIST List. This support helps LL crew members continue to pay their tuition fees, continue to earn the respect of the linguistic community, and continue the work of their dreams. I am so glad that I work with LL crew members. The LINGUIST List is a fun, lively place to work where one can learn about and appreciate many different cultures.

    I am Himanshu, the financial editor at LINGUIST List. I came to EMU in January, 2003 from India. Some day last spring, I just happened to email Helen and she thought that the LINGUIST List, the world's largest website for linguistics, needed a person to manage all financial activities, a person who understood the "language of money." So Helen gave me the responsibility to make sure that every supporter's money is going to the right place. I assure proper entries in our financial database. I am able to do this thanks to the exhaustive, yet user-friendly, financial database that our LL crew programmers have developed.

    I urge you subscribers to donate this year so that I, along with all of my fellow crew members here at the LL, can keep continue working for you. Thanks a lot!
