Angelina Helen Madrid - Philippine linguist (1943 - 2009) passed away onNovember 8th, 2009 in Manila, after a long battle with cancer. She helpeddevelop a generation of field linguists in the Philippines.

She grew up in rural northern Philippines and went on to get a BS inMathematics from Adamson University (metro Manila) and by 1985she hadcompleted graduate work in linguistics at the University of Texas atArlington. She taught for many years in the linguistic training program atPhilippine Normal University and was instrumental in language developmentwork among the the Ifugao peoples.
