Subject: Call for papers: Contemporary Chinese Linguistics
A new international linguistics journal, Contemporary Chinese Linguistics,
is under preparation for publication in as early as July 1995. The
journal will be published by the Higher Education Press in Beijing, China,
and is half-yearly.
Editor-in-Chief : James C.-T. Huang (U of California, Irvine)
Associate Editors: Hongming Zhang (National U of Singapore)
Shengli Feng (Princeton U)
Jie Xu (National U of Singapore)
Contributions to the journal are required to be written in Chinese. This
is because the journal aims to provide an important forum for discussions
among linguists both inside and outside of China. Original papers on any
topics of Chinese linguistics are welcome, but papers dealing with a
specific issue from the perspective of modern linguistic theory are
particularly invited. In addition to regular articles, the journal will
also publish critical surveys, discussions and reviews. Since the intended
audience has diverse background and the journal is open to all theoretical
pursuits, authors are encouraged to be as explicit as possible about
their theoretical assumptions, and explain theoretical notions wherever
possible. In general there is no limit on the length of articles, but
they are expected not to exceed 40 thousand Chinese characters.
(Exceptionally sound works longer than 40k Chinese characters may be
considered for publication as supplementary monographs of the journal.
Consult the Editorial Board (address to be given below) for details.)
All submissions will be reviewed by anonymous reviewers, whose opinions,
along with the editorial decision, will be forwarded to the authors in 6
months.
